Why breakfast is important?

BREAKFAST is important part of our daily routine to kick start the day. Breakfast means break a fast from a night before. I don't say have breakfast like a king instead have a balanced meal that helps you improve concentration, feel more energetic, avoid binge eating rest of the day, control weight and boost metabolism.
               
Skipping breakfast is very common because some don't feel hungry in the morning especially kids, some don't get time to eat and some skip breakfast so as to loose weight  BUT this is a big NO!!! NEVER EVER SKIP BREAKFAST IF WANT TO STAY FIT & HEALTHY!

As we all know that breakfast is important meal and all age group should have it; but their body requirements and routines are different so their breakfast options and proportions will also differ. I will come up with some healthy, tasty and nutritious recipes that will be very easy to prepare and everyone can have.

My first breakfast recipe is WHOLE MOONG CHAT/ WHOLE MOONG USAL/ WHOLE GREEN GRAM SNACK - this recipe is protein and fibre rich, made in less oil - good protein source for vegetarians, kids and adults, vegan diet and keto meal. WHOLE MOONG CHAT/ WHOLE MOONG USAL/ WHOLE GREEN GRAM SNACK


Serves - 4
Cooking time - 10 min

INGREDIENTS:
  • Whole moong/ Whole green gram (raw) - 300 gm
  • Onion - 1 big size
  • Tomato - 1 medium size
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Mustard seed - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida or Hing - 1/4 tsp
  • Green chilli - 3 no.
  • Salt as per taste
  • Black pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Chaat masala - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp 
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
           
METHOD:
  • Soak whole moong in water overnight and pressure cook upto one whistle. Keep it aside and let it cool down.
  • Put oil in a saucepan and heat it, add mustard seed, green chilli and asafoetida in hot oil.
  • Add onion and cook for few seconds.
  • Add tomato, salt, garam masala, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, chaat masala and black pepper powder. 
  • Mix all the ingredients and cook till 2 minutes.
  • Add cooked whole moong, cover the lid and cook for atleast 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with tomato, onion, coriander leaves and lemon. Serve hot.
Note: One can have curd with this recipe or squeeze lemon on top to increase taste and nutritive value. If you don't want to add all spices than just add salt, chaat masala and black pepper.
